Female Red-Backed Fairy wren

Malurus melanocephalus.

I stopped by at the trail park in Samford on the way home this morning to see what was there. It's a pretty area with the South Pine River flowing through it and fields of tall grasses which the wrens and other birds seem to enjoy hiding in. This little female wren was playing lookout for the flock and got relatively close to where I was standing.

Wrens are such cute little birds, so tiny and yet so active.
Hmmm, there's an idea... mounting a cardboard cutout of another wren on the lens hood... hmmm... ;-)
I'm really making ME want this lens ;-)
    (gotta give it back real-soon-now)

I love the sharp focus and how it contrasts the softness of the background
    well done

Thanks Jennifer :) I was quite happy when this little wren decided to come out of hiding an perch on the grass like that as there was nothing close behind it so I could blur out the background nicely.
