a pretty bird with a beady eye !
Have you bought this lens- or still in borrowing havent decided mode.. ( but I'd really like a 500 mm !! )
David de Groot said: Still borrowing, and have turned off the 100-400, it's just not as sharp as I'd like, and I don't really need a zoom at that range, so I've opted for the 400/5.6L, which arrives next Tue :)

400 f5.6L?? Very nice. So the 100-400 just didn't cut it for you? That was my experience too when I borrowed one. Did the lack of IS on the 400 put you off at all? Nice shot btw. :-)
David de Groot said: Yeah, I've borrowed the 100-400 a few times now, and it just seems like too much of a compromise.
As for the lack of IS on the 400, yeah a little, but I figured most birding is done either in good light, or after sitting around for long periods on a tripod, so it should be fine, and I can always up the ISO for greater shutter speed ;-)

Well I can't wait to see what you can get with it, plus the high iso capability on your new camera is so good you should be fine.
