Experiment

I decided to have a puddle in photoshop and be a little artistic with this one. Various layers for watercolour/underpainting, some added lens flare for effect and different layer blend modes produced this image which I think is quite reasonable while remaining fairly subtle in the edits.

Probably still needs a little work here and there, but I'll leave it as is for now.

Sharp mate, the rocks on the right like kinda like they are from a computer game...
  • David de Groot said:
Oddly enough, they looked like that before I puddled with it ;-)

    Wow, looks great Dave!

Wow, well they look great. It's hard to really tell there is some photoshopping going on here.

    Thanks Nic :)
It's a fine line - I tried to be fairly subtle with the edits.

    Great shot,
This meet sure was very fruitful it seems for everyone who went?! Have been some incredible images that keep appearing in the group.
    My compliments...

I suspect it would have been hard to come away with a bad picture from that meet. :)

Lots of great shots from this outing, Dave :)

Now I know why you want to go to Point Cartwright.
Might I suggest the Noosa National Park or the rocks at Coolum!
  • David de Groot said:
'twas a good outing, for sure.
I'd considered both of those locations too. Noosa would be great, but the walk to Hell's Gates is somewhat long to be doing pre-dawn. Rocks at Coolum might be the go then :)
  • petepothole said:
Try going in from Sunshine Beach, its shorter to walk!
  • David de Groot said:
Ah ok - I might have to go for a daytime reccie first to see what I'm in for before proposing it as a dawn shoot location.

The inclusion of the rock face to the right makes this a truly remarkable composition Dave. Great rendering too.
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks Garry - it was hard to not concentrate on only the causeway and rocks in front, but I'm glad I could tear my attention away for a little while at least ;-)

I wish I've seen this when I visited Australia. It's like a scene from Indiana Jones.
  • David de Groot said:
Up until a year ago, I didn't even know this place existed - and I live in Australia! ;-)

When i'm next back in Oz, I intend to finally come out on a shoot with you guys.... until then, keep on uploading Dave.

Should be good - we have decent outings every month or two. :)

Did I read that right? The walk to Hell's Gate is too long pre-dawn?!?! Do you need a zimmer? :P
