
We also spotted a couple of eels. This one came right up to the edge and was about a foot and a half long.
This is probably a Long-finned Eel (anguilla reinhardtii). Apparently good eating after it's been skinned. Personally I reckon it can just stay in the duck pond.

I love Japanese fresh water eels and we call them Unagi here or 'una-don' (the dish itself). They're really delicious when grilled with terriyaki sauce. (o^.^o)
I must say, I have not tried eel yet. It's not that common a menu item around here.
