Early Morning Industry

Shot from David's 39th floor apartment. The portion of bridge that can be seen in the middle foreground is the Gateway Bridge.

Looks better larger.

Thanks Bennie - darn quick of you too. I only just finished posting it to WP!

Dude... i didn't see it on WP first. I saw it in my flickr contacts stream first mate!!

Ah I figured that, but in my befuddled state I was trying to say I hadn't actually fully "posted" it (even though it was obviously posted here).

was it really bright at that time? the tones in this are magnificent! esp the trees as they go more into the distance. can we see a coloured version? :P
  • David de Groot said:
Yes it was very bright. The sun is just out of frame to the left. The "colour" version is pretty much monochromatic anyway, just a slightly more obvious shade of orange.

Nope, this was Sunday morning. There were scattered showers about and a generally hazy feel to the morning.
    :)

Great photo. I like the monochromatic shades. You must have used a pretty long zoom for this!

Fantastic. I used this smoke stack every day on the way from the office to the refinery while I was working at BP. The direction of the smoke told me if it was ok to continue one of my projects which due to flue gas could only be done when we had north westerly winds. :-)

hehe not just useful for early morning photography then ;-)
