
There's a fair number of Dusky Moorhen in the Botanic Gardens, most are relatively used to people, which is handy when you want to take a photo of them :)

Habitat and Range: Freshwater wetlands, moist thickly covered areas and ornamental lakes throughout eastern and south-western Australia.

I wouldnt care to be in charge of feet as large as those, probably end up- end up as it were !
Quite so! But, they can walk on lily pads and mud without sinking, so I guess their useful feet in the right circumstances ;)
can be noisey little blighters to, we had a lot on the farm dams.
We've got them down the road at home too, but with the scarcity of water of late they're not quite as common.
