I almost stood on this duck today. It sat there very still as I walked along, and had I not caught sight of it in my peripheral vision, I'd have stood on it within two steps.
Figuring it may be injured I carefully took photos without getting too any closer than this. It turned out to be fine though, as it got up and stretched it's wings after I'd passed it.

It looks like it was in the shadows (or is that you?)...could almost blend into the rocks below. Good thing you saw it - I wouldn't have wanted to see the pics if you hadn't ; ))
It's probably used to being photographed, what with all the flickrites in Brisbane ;-)
It's a shadow of a tree Melissa. I'd never seen a duck just sit there was someone approached before, quite odd really, but I was much relieved to see it moving about after I'd passed.
Could be David, anything's possible.
cool duck. how great that it let you take pics! i'm glad it was okay, too. :-)

I just love the iridescent window on the wing :)
The iridescent is lovely. Good too to know it was okay.
that iridescent bit on ducks' wings is one of the things i love about them. i never think of 'nature' as having colours like that, but they're all around! :-)

Thanks Melissa. Yes, I was very pleased to see it move about.
It's cool isn't it Coralie ? Even better is that it changes colour depending on the angle you view the duck from. :)
