  my stepmum used to have a couple, sadly gone now, my kids used to take them for walks around the farm. Chunky and Daphne they were called. My daughter would sit on chunky for ages whilst she wandered about looking for tasty titbits, Proper little escape artists they were too, secretly widened any gap they found in the hedge, usually to be found under some fruit tree or other, waiting for windfalls . I would love to keep donkeys !! lovely
