...if you dare!
This is a post-processed photo of a section of the Mangrove boardwalk in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens.
The original image was too bright and lacked the tunnel like quality I was after.

An excellent effect you created again, David. You are very handy with photoshop!
Thanks David :) I'm usually somewhat of a purist when it comes to photographs, i.e. I prefer to capture it all "in camera", but sometimes you just can't get the mood right so I've found I'm not averse to a bit of mild editing on an otherwise ordinary photo.
Gorgeous green scene! I love the dappled shade!

Seen on your photo stream. (?)
Thanks Jill :) The dappled shade was one of the reasons I took the shot in the first place, but the sun was fairly high and bright and it lacked atmosphere.
LOL I was writing a short story on this when an ant walked across estelles keyboard and brought out my killer instinct's :;--))
I lifted my thumb and dropped it on the ant squashing it!
While it was sitting on the off button DUH!
So you will miss the body of my congratulations,
Just Well Done Dave!
I think you did a great job on the post processing. About 3 months ago I would never have used Photoshop but now I use it with all my work. Times change and more tools are thrown in the tool box. I've seen Flickr members who only use pin-hole cameras. Some of them believe using anything else is cheating. But I do understand your dilemma. I have to admit that I'm going through it myself. Oh yeah, and awesome picture!
*laugh* That's amusing Kev :) Thanks!
Thanks Mark. Yep, the old "make sure the shot is perfect in camera" vs "post processing" dilemma. I like the challenge of both camps actually. I still much prefer to get it right the first time, but if that doesn't work it's handy to be confident enough to fix it afterwards. :)
Well dave , no matter what they say you can't make a bad shot good, but you can make a good shot better
And lets face it, the PC is far better than a dark room smelling of chemicals and an enlarger?
Well there is that Kev. The base image needs to be of a certain quality before you have any chance of rescuing it. And yeah the PC is indeed a lot cleaner and less smelly than a darkroom (not to mention cheaper, since I already have PCs but I don't have dark room equipment) ;-)
P C's plural , you need plural mate, mine must be a female it's having a stress day I'f it keeps playing up I'll swipe the lot off it and try again, (and maybe this time train it properly)
I'm useing Estelles L/T at the moment.
Anyway believe me you DON"T want a dark room!
Ah well plural PCs is not a problem around here, it's finding places to put the damn things that tends to be difficult ;-)
I was thinking about this today and I realized that everything I do on my PC I can also do in the darkroom. In Photoshop I use contrast, saturation, cropping, dodge and burn, and cross processing. The only difference is the speed. But I should say I still don't like when colors are totally tweaked out beyond recognition. Or when someone puts objects like a tree that wasn't in the original shot. The debate continues! LOL.
That's true Mark, I only do the most basic edits in Photoshop (excepting when I'm just being silly - like Kara's Vampire photo - however that's not serious photography).
show us the original!
Well ok.... it's here:
I would dare walk down there. Beautiful!
