This version specifically done for Rachel. I'm not sure the red bow entirely works, but there it is anyway.
I added a sepia layer to see what it looked like.

I like the effect. I think it works well and, for me, focuses things on the model more. I also prefer this slight sepia tinted version too.
Thanks David. Yeah I thought the selective colour was a bit too harsh on the plain b&w, thus the sepia version too.
I like this vintage effect. Shouldn't you put this on public viewing? :)
Thanks Maria. I'm still undecided whether to open it up for public viewing as yet, since I have the original b&w shot up, it might be too much of the same.
Can't get too much of a good thing, David - go on!
I'll add another fave to help persuade you ;-)
Persuasive people aren't you ? :P
Sure are - we can be a real pain in the butt ;-p
i really like it. i'm glad you made it public. it's obviously different than the other one .. :-)

Seen on your photo stream. (?)
Cool! I like this one more than the b&w for its warmth, as you guys have already decided.
Well a slightly different crop and some colour added Coralie, but taken from the same raw file. :)
I also did a purple toned one, that seemed to work too, but figured yet another copy would be overkill.
purple tones in the bow or in the rest of the pic? purple tones in the rest of the pic would look amazing!

Purple tones in the rest of the pic :) Like a sepia but with purple instead of orange.
that would look awesome!

The beauty of using a solid colour layer in photoshop to tint your photos is that it's a piece of cake to change the colour to something else :)
ahhhhhh, of course! i was wondering how you did it. :-)

Easy eh ? :)
After looking at all three versions, even though the purple is well funky, I do prefer the sepia with red. The red bow really adds something to the shot, as opposed to the straight B&W :-)
Looking at the sepia again, it could almost be an advertisement for some sort of coffee brand...
I can't help but still prefer the plain b&w one, but I'll grant that this sepia/red bow version has merit. You're right about the coffee ad too. :)
I like this version best, perhaps because the bright red bow features so strongly in EC's images of Charlie.
There is that, and I'm finding this one is growing on me the more I see it.
