We had rain today so I decided to check out the creek down the road. However, most of the rain seems to have soaked into the ground (not surprising given the time since the last rain). It still made for a pretty scene :)
Taken on my new tripod, using a polarizing filter.

the rocks are large so I guess at sometime there was a lot of water to bring them from somewhere ? Lovely area, so the tripod is put to use straight away !! I look forward to the new camera results as well !
Great boulders. They look well rounded and polished. I demand to know how they got there! Very curious...
Beautiful photo. Love the colours. Nice to have rain, isn't it? Bet it won't last though.
Helen / Nelly, they're all leftover from the volcanos some X million years ago. The geologists reckon this whole area was once several hundred metres higher than it is now. The mountains in the area are a mix of volcanic cores (long dead), solidified magma lumps and other interesting geological structures of similar ilk. Thus the granite boulders are the result of many millions of years of erosion. And finally, yes, when we get a lot of rain the creek runs high and fast.
See these shots of the last time we had enough rain for it to do so.
Well I'm hoping we get a few hundred mm's in the dam personally (unlikely I know) - where's a handy ex-cyclone when you need one?
Like the photos of the last rains.... we've had rain today too.... woohoo! This shot is lovely and fresh looking!
Thanks Alison - it's sure been good to have some rain. Checked the gauge not long ago, we've had 18mm today :)
Nowhere near enough to get the creek flowing well, but a good start.
definitely a good start! :)
Ah, freshened by the rain. Nice photo.
Yep all nice and green Margot :) Would have been nice if it'd rained again today, but yesterday's was nice all the same.
With al of the rain you've been getting, how is this spot doing?
Flowing really well at the moment, but I've not had a chance to get down there and shoot it.
