Down the road are some mini-cows (Belted Galloway?) which I've been attempting to get a photo of for a while now, but usually pass by their paddock when it's too dark for a decent shot. This morning however, I managed to grab a couple. This is one of two calves on the property.

I wondered what these were called. There are some near us. Lovely looking cows

Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)
I think they're called Belted Galloways, but am not sure. I'm hoping Helen pops by and fills us in.
Looks like its wearing a saddle in the thumbnail :-)
It does doesn't it? Mind you they look like someone's painted them in real life.
You are correct. They are belted galloways....or as I call them "oreo cows"! I've been trying to find some in my area to shoot (with my camera, of course). I'd also like to find some longhorns.
Thanks Dianne. They're a cute little cow, somewhat smaller than the more common varieties.
We don't get the longhorn varieties out here usually. Our most common cows are: Brahman, Hereford, Black Angus, Fresian, Jersey and Limousine. There are others, for sure, but nowhere near as common.
I missed this one earlier, glad their identity is confirmed ! cute are they not !!
Cute indeed - and the calves are so small compared to normal cows!
