Buff-banded Rail

This little guy was hiding in the foliage as I wandered past. It's a Buff-banded Rail.

Common Names: Buff-banded Rail, Banded Rail, Banded Land Rail

Scientific Name: Gallirallis philippensis

Habitat & Range: Streams, swamps and moist areas with cover. NW to E and SE Australia including Tasmania. Also found in the Philippines, New Guinea and New Zealand.
