Pretty neat eh ?
And all those cars parked outside too. I don't think I've ever seen Town Hall with a driveway and parking lot out front, it's always had King George Square out front for as long as I can remember.

Terrific pic, there are no lions or King George out front yet.
David de Groot said: And there's a pub on the corner across the road.

I just read that the city hall was finished in 1930 and King George V Memorial: erected in 1938 in honour of King George V, who was the ruling monarch of England when City Hall was opened. Here are some links of what the memorial looked like

the current King George Square was opened in 1975
Here's a pic of original opening and the cars look very similar

David de Groot said: Thanks for that - good collection of links there.
However, that's not the same pub. The Windsor was on the corner of Ann and Roma Sts, while McGuires (above in the photo) is clearly on the corner of Ann and Albert Sts.

No I dont think that's right , what you are describing is where the Police station was www.library.uq.edu.au/fryer/alcock/512/img0042.html
and they were probably standing in front of the church to take the snap so that part of Albert st wouldnt be in the view , check out Bris City Library
images and search for Methodist Church - Albert Street and you'll see a pic taken from cnr of city hall showing pub on cnr and only the church appears in pic
David de Groot said: Ah yes I see. So the corner of Ann and Roma directly opposite the Town Hall (about a cm from the J on the above map, down Ann St).
