beautiful dave. i really should have dragged out my view cam for this, but i was just too tired. think i'll try and catch the "blue hour" soon though.
corallie - the exposure details are in the EXIF data ("more properties" - on the right). exposure was 30sec.
  • David de Groot said:
Yep, a plane it is - I saw it coming around after I'd hit the shutter and was hoping it would make it into the frame before the shutter closed. :)

30 second exposure on this one, and a minor levels tweak in photoshop.

Thanks Greg - yeah you were up a lot earlier than I this morning. I was starting to get on the tired side myself by this stage, lots of walking today (Southbank to Waterfront Place, via the Story Bridge - then drove back to Kangaroo Point Cliffs).

Just the thing for the 24 hours of Flickr day :)
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks :) Yes I was very pleased the plane turned and flew into my shot before the shutter closed.

    - yeah, silly me. i looked at that once in one of my own pictures & went straight past the big, bold exposure information & thought it only had the shutter speed info in the odd fraction, thus why i didn't look that time. now you've pointed it out, though, i see the big, bold letters. lol! :-D

I like their almost silver quality. It's a great spot to perch for a pic is it not?

Hey thanks Sarah :) I'm pretty happy with that evening's shoot.

I like this one too, but somehow I like the cooler tones and the "cleanness" of the previous shot, if you know what I mean ;-)
  • David de Groot said:
Yeah I know what you mean. This one is "eye candy" but the other seems sharper and more realistic.

David, am i right in saying that this one was selected for the book? I was looking at the preview of it and there is a page with a map showing what photos came from where and there is a little version of this one on Brisbane.

    If so, congrats :D
  • David de Groot said:
That'd be really cool if it was, but I never got any notification of it.
  • David de Groot said:
You're right Sam! That is indeed a thumbnail of this photo on the map page - possibly 'cause I geotagged it ? Neat! I don't know if that means it got published in full, but if nothing else a little tiny bit of my work is now in print :)
  • -spam- said:
Could be worth a message to Heather asking why its there? Im pretty sure that it would appear on the final printed copies of the books if its on the preview.
  • David de Groot said:
I queried on the 24 Hours group and got a reply from Heather:
    www.flickr.com/groups/24flickr/discuss/72157600363262922/...

So yes, it's in the book, it's credited but it's only that page, not a larger version. Which is fine, it's still there, albeit very small.

Well done, David - a great reminder of the home town's beauty!
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks :) 'twas a good day out photographing, and it's pretty neat to be the representative photo on the map.
