Brisbane at Dusk

Taken at our workshop this evening.

Kane and I are really looking forward to seeing the results from our students as the images on the back of the cameras looked stunning.

Woot, you got the clouds... they looked awesome where we were. Yup, hoping to see some shots soon.

Awesome sky movement here David!! Love the light on the bridge & water!!

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/kathrine-carter] We moved the group around to the other end of the park this time Kath. Those shooting at 18mm could then get the whole bridge in, and there's a park light near the shooting location that illuminates the foreground grass nicely. The clouds finally did something useful (having all but disappeared at sunset).
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/kanegledhill] Sure did - ended up shooting for about 2min 45sec to get enough movement though.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrew73] Sure did Andrew. It's the best compromise for that scene. The oranges stay orange (not yellow like with Tungsten WB) and the sky goes bluer than with Daylight WB.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/36021204@N03] Thanks Adam, was lucky. The clouds came and went and generally didn't do what we wanted, except for this 10 min period.

congratulations on your maiden workshop guys! I'm sure all those around learned alot - the fanning of clouds over the bridge is cool
  • David de Groot said:
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/1vy] Thanks Hang. This was down the other end of the park from where we shot (at the bottom). Should you return (with a friend), you will be able to get the whole bridge in with your lens from there.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmtoh] This was the second workshop Dylan, but thanks all the same :) The clouds were great, for the little time they hung around.

Wonderful shot David ! I learn a lot just by looking at your streams ! I love the clouds on this one and the exposure is spot on, something which I dont get right with my dusk shots !

This looks great. I'm loving how you captured the grass in the foreground. Your shot is beautifully balanced in both colour and composition. Thanks heaps for your help at the workshop. I got one of the clouds like this too, courtesy of Kane.

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/aramisfirefly] Thanks Matt, the clouds didn't hang around for long - pretty much got two shots off before they'd moved along.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/cobra_11] Saw the clouds and decided to break out the camera. :)
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/abhijithtitus] Takes a bit of practice, trial and error, etc. We try to condense what we know in our workshops so that people can take it away with them and practice afterwards.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelglenreed] Thanks Reedy, coming along fairly well at the moment.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/kelpie1] You're welcome Karen. I must say, your results from the workshop are stunning.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/thea_m] Thanks Thea. Must get out for some more birding at some stage, it's been a while.

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/whytebate] Thanks Sarah, I chose the long exposure precisely for the clouds to create some interesting leading lines in the sky. :)
