Blue Wren

This little tiny Blue Wren was in a bottle-brush bush next to the Brisbane River at Wivenhoe Pocket Road, Fernvale.

This is probably my best bird shot of the day, quite lucky as he was flitting about the bush a fair bit.

See where this picture was taken.

I love the male wrens (poor females get to be little brown birds!) They used to jump around in my backyard.

I love wrens, they're so colourful, but you're right about the females, terribly dower.

We have some blue wrens around home but more common are these tiny black and red ones (which are always waaaaay to fast to photograph).

the girls have to be dowdyfor nesting reasons !!

Well spotted Helen, I didn't even see that. I presume it lived for at least another couple of minutes as the wren flew off without eating it (but who knows if it came back after I'd wandered off).

Nice Photo! we have blue wren living beside our house, in our bonfire pile to be exact and he's pretty much a serial pest (cute one though) he thinks that his reflection is another blue wren and is constantly trying to pick a fight, widows at about 5.30 am, bathroom mirror if you ever make the mistake of leaving the window open. I'm determined to get a good photo of him though.

Thanks Sarah :) Yeah they're tricky little buggers to photograph, that's for sure. Too small and fast, and they seem to know when you're pointing a camera at them.
