Oh if only it were a penguin! They are just the cutest birds around.
But the magpie is great bird all the same. Their song in the morning is fantastic.

Ignore the screeching on this audio sample (that's cockatoos), the bird that sounds fairly melodic is the magpie. It starts with three higher pitched whistles (of sorts).

Nice work David! I'm enjoying shooting with my S2 and would love to shoot more pics of birds and other wildlife!

Nope, just the inbuilt zoom on the S2. Mind you, I wasn't very far away from him, maybe 3 metres at most.
They can be very tame... whenever I approach with anything other than food they hop or strut in a different direction. And it will soon be breeding season with all the swooping.
