Albert St Uniting Church from above

Shot from the clock tower of the town hall.

I had taken quite a few other shots from up there, some using Johnno's 70-200 f/2.8L IS, but didn't realise I was still set for iso1600 (from shooting inside the town hall), and thus most were fairly noisy and not worth bothering with.

Taken during Day #2 of the Xenedis Visit Brisbanites Flickr Meetup weekend.

It looks quite out of place somehow, both in architectural style and size.

It looks a lot smaller than it is from up here. There are other shots of it from the ground in my stream.

But yes, the style is unique compared to all the other churches in the city.

    Very well done.
    No converging verticals.
    Great colour.

Hey thanks Ian - the little 50mm f/1.8 is a handy lens for that. Not wide enough for distortion, and as sharp as a tack :)

Whoever authorised that corporate concrete monolith behind the church should have a severe talking to. If that building - the one to the top left of this pic - was out of the way, photographers wouldn't have to contort their way to keep it out of shot. Is quite difficult.

    Rant over ;-)

Actually whoever authorised a lot of the high-rises in Brisbane should be shot.

Double WOW! It almost looks like a model. Maybe it was the high ISO.

Hey thanks this one was actually iso 400 (which is why I uploaded it) :) I think this building just has a toy like quality about it, I've got another shot from ground level that shows the same effect.

This could be made into a convincing fake tilt-shift, to emphasise it's model looks.

Yes, I believe it could be - although it might work better with a bit more foreground and background.
